不定式的被动式作后置定语表示将要发生的动作，即表示在谓语动作之后或说话时间之后将要发生的动作。

Are you going to attend the meeting to be held next week? (to be held=which is to be held)

你要参加下周召开的会议吗？

现在分词的被动式作后置定语表示说话时正在进行的动作或与谓语动词同时发生的动作。

He told us to keep a secret of the things being discussed. (being discussed=which were being discussed)

他让我们对所讨论的事情保密。

过去分词作后置定语有两种意义。

1.发生在谓语动词之前的动作

He is reading a book written by Lu Xun. (written=which was written)

他正在读鲁迅写的一本书。

2.一种反复出现的经常性的动作，没有一定时间界限，只是单纯表示被动意义，相当于谓语为一般现在时的定语从句。

He is a teacher loved by the students. (loved=who is loved)

他是一个受学生爱戴的老师。
